To My Beloved Critic…

Dearly Beloved Critic,

I just want to say one thing to all your critical remarks and “helpful critiques.”

I know you believe it’s wrong for me to tell my stories of all I’ve been through.

To my beloved critic...You say,

“Forget the past!”

“Trust God, and get on with your life!”

You believe speaking of pain and hopelessness, is a waste of time, and dishonoring to our LORD.

But don’t you see?

I believe the stories of those things God has brought me throughhave great value—especially to those who are feeling lost, and hopeless, and are thinking of giving up.

Every 13 minutes someone in this country takes their life.

I do not tell my stories to say, “Oh, boo-hoo, look at all I’ve had to go through!”

Quite the contrary!

I tell my stories to shout out to the enemy and my past,

“Look! Look at ALL He has brought me through! See how FAITHFUL He is? See all that He will do for anyone who will TRUST Him, keep believing, and endure?”

Dear beloved CriticI am still here—though my enemies did their worst!

I am still believing—in my Good Father, my Faithful Shepherd and Savior, and my Comforter-Friend!

I am still singing and worshipping—even in my darkest nights.

If He brought me through all these things?

You can trust Him to bring you through, too!

P.S.

My critical friend, “Isn’t that what A WITNESS is supposed to do—recall and recount their story?”

THIS IS THE SOUND OF SURVIVING!

I’M STILL HERE…

and I’M NOT DONE FIGHTING,

and I’M GONNA KEEP ON CLIMBING!
