When I was young destroyer came…
My heart to crush–my dreams to maim.
It is the same for all who dream,
A plan is hatched–an evil scheme…
To break a life and hope’s destroy,
For every little girl and boy.
And Devil says, “Ah hah! I’ve won!”
Their dreams are dead; future undone!
But God above can fashion wings;
From wounded hearts and broken things.
And choicest plan He’ll hold in view,
While mending and restoring you.
He’ll fashion from your fractured soul,
A life that’s been redeemed–made whole!
Just offer up those broken things.
And when He’s done–He’ll give back wings!
