Have you ever had one of those exquisite syncretistic moments? They can sure leave you wondering and scratching your head.
For instance—that thing with the clocks.
I really like digital clocks because they are simple and easy to read. But several years ago the strangest thing kept happening. It didn’t matter what time of day it was, whenever I would look at one of my clocks the numbers would all be the same.
This clock-thing happened so often I knew it had to be a God-thing. It might happen in the morning, in the afternoon, or in the middle of the night, it didn’t matter. The clock would read different numbers each time—but always the same numbers.
If this happens once or twice you say it is a coincidence, but dozens and dozens of times and you really start to wonder, “What’s up with this?”
So I prayed about it.
Heaven stayed silent.
I said, “God what are You saying to me with this number-thing?”
This one-sided conversation went on for a few years. The clocks lining up. The questions. The Silence. I couldn’t figure it out. I knew it was significant. Something doesn’t keep happening like this and you call it random. At least I don’t.
I got so frustrated with the whole thing I stopped asking. Every time the clock registered the same numbers I would say something like, “Okay, so there it is again and I guess You’ll tell me what it means when You’re good and ready.”
So, one day I’m on Utube and I just “randomly” choose to listen to one of my favorite speakers. He’s winding up his message and he decides to tell a story to illustrate his point. He says, “The strangest thing started happening to me. Every time I would look at my clock—all the numbers would read the same.”
I stood up and shouted at my computer, “Yes!”
He said, “I finally figured out what God was trying to say to me.”
“You are in the RIGHT PLACE and at precisely the RIGHT TIME.”
(“Well, duh!” she said.)
Sometimes God has to hit me with a syncretistic brick!
You see, I had been second-guessing every decision I had made in the past few years, because nothing had turned out as I had expected.
But He was there with me even in my confusion.
Waiting on me to get it.
I love it when I finally hear God’s whisper in my ear,
“Relax Sweetheart. I’ve got this!”
So, I’ve said all of this just so I could whisper to your heart,
“Take courage sweetheart…
“He’s in the waiting.
Hold on to your HOPE watch your triumph unfold.
He’s never failing.”
“I waited patiently for the Lord; and he inclined unto me, and heard my cry. He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings. And he hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God: many shall see it, and fear, and shall trust in the Lord. Blessed is that man that maketh the Lord his trust, and respecteth not the proud, nor such as turn aside to lies.”
Psalm 40:1-4 KJV
I spent all morning on this post. I thought, “What time is it anyway?” I turned and looked at the clock. It read 12:12 and I laughed out loud! Who says God doesn’t have a sense of humor?
