“As the deer pants for water, so I long for you, O God. I thirst for God, the living God…” Psalm 42:1
In a dry and barren space
Hungering for a greener place
Water brooks fed by spring from mountians high.
This choking dust and blowing sand,
Sun scorched by searing brand;
From up above, shining glare blinds my eyes.
Abba! Come, and rain on us!
Still spirit’s angry fuss!
This desert! Everywhere I look is burned and dry!
Oh, Father! All that I see,
Crushes heart ~ oppresses me;
Only Living Water can cool panting soul sighs.
It’s You that I cry out for
For presence here, I implore;
Oh, Abba, come! Spirit’s cooling drink don’t deny.
Cool Water, come and soothe my thirst;
Arid land has done it’s worst;
But when You come, and fill me full, I shall be satisfied.
